Boxing is part of the DNA of NG7. For over 160 years the Noble Art of Pugilism has been intrinsically linked to the people growing up in the square half mile just to the west of Nottingham City Centre. 

In the bare knuckle days of the late 1800s local newspapers reported the results of dozens of illicit match ups on a weekly basis. 

Radford became synonymous with the fight game which was run by what the Nottingham Gazette called the Radford Roughs. 

Bars, back yards and the maze alley ways and back streets were the venues - some notorious families even had boxing rings in their cellar to keep training away from prying eyes. 

When scores needed settling these most private of boxing rings must have been an intimidating place to step up to the scratch. 

Radford Boys Boxing Club started around 100 years ago and remained in the same little room at the back of the White Horse pub. 

Over the years a conveyor belt of domestic and international title winners have come out of Radford - Herol Bomber Graham, Dave Needham, the Booth brothers Jason and Nicky, Jawaid Khaliq, Curtis Valentine. Even today Raddie Man Omari Grant is still busy making waves.
