The Solo MCs Manifesto: From the Underground to the Tarmac
I didn't start in fashion. I started in the underground.
If you’ve been around Nottingham long enough, you might already know my voice.
Whether it was putting ink to paper for LeftLion, writing for the Forest fanzine Oh Mist Rolling In, or running PR and marketing for Dealmaker Records, my entire life has been about shaping culture from the ground up.
I was in the trenches of the independent UK Hip-Hop scene, cultivating a cult following for acts before the mainstream even knew what hit them.
Ideas to Realisation
I’m a writer really, my brain works proper left-field.
Mad stuff like my Nottingham Forest Celebrity Fan XI on YouTube (@RadfordRed.ng7) will tell you I don't do standard lists.
I took famous fans and completely rewrote their biographies, transposing their real-world career skills into the attributes of professional footballers on the pitch.
I take culture, twist the concept, and build a completely new reality out of it. But this one is special. Very special.
This is a cross section of two badass industries. Empty and completely devoid of anyone bringing it.
I love riding Motorbikes. I love blasting dope beats. I love twisting people's heads and creating things people notice and enjoy, but with a cutting edge of near offensive humour, activism and style.
In the past I've worked as part of a team, creating things to a brief, another artist or editor's brief - but this one is mine. All mine.
Basically I'm a badass and that exact same creative hustle is why I built Solo MCs Hip-Hop Motorbike Crew.
The Biker Scene is a Hip-Hop Scene
Look around - the demographic has shifted. The typical biker is the same, the middle aged, the midlife-crisis riders.
But the decades have changed what the middle aged are.
The traditional "Rock and Roll" biker aesthetic—the skulls, the flames, the heavy metal—is a relic.
The people with the bikes, the miles, and the money today are middle-aged heads who grew up in the 90s.
We aren't blasting AC/DC on the motorway; we’re bumping boom-bap. We were raised on the raw grit of Eazy-E, the poetry of 2Pac, and the chaotic, strategic genius of Busta Rhymes.
But the apparel industry never caught up. So, I decided to do it myself.
Solo MCs Hip-Hop Motorbike Crew is the world’s first bespoke, hip-hop-themed motorbike apparel brand.
I am taking the exact same curation I used for independent records and applying it to premium, road-ready gear.
From custom Eazy-E "Godfather of Compton" riding jackets to conceptual, left-field drops like my upcoming Flipmode Squad Chess Set to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Coming.
100% Independent
This entire brand is an experiment in pure, independent grit. I started this with a £1 Shopify trial, a £16 domain, and zero ad budget. Just me, thirty years of Nottingham hustle, and a profound love for the golden era of hip-hop and getting out on two-wheels.
The roads have changed. The soundtrack has changed. It's time the gear did too.
Welcome to the new way of riding.
Welcome to Solo MCs.
